Description
A typical HFNC system consists of a flow generator, active heated humidifier, single-limb heated circuit, and nasal cannula.
HFNC is a simple system with clinical effects mainly dependent on flow, oxygen concentration, and temperature setting.
HFNC is a heated and humidified system that allows prescribed fraction of inspired oxygen (FIO2) levels to be delivered at very high flow rates.
Application
When HFNC is used to deliver oxygen, the flow rates are much higher than can be achieved with traditional nasal cannula.
